Hi, i recently purchased a TP Link TD-W8980 to replace the old Thomson router supplied by Telecom. However for some reason I cant get the same bandwidth from a wired connection compared to a wireless one to the modem with the better connection over Wifi. I get roughly a 100kB fall using a wired connection as shown in the linked speed tests, both speed test were done one after the other with nothing else using the network at the time. Does anyone know what could cause this issue? No such problem existed with the old modem.

The TP link is using factory settings for all options, I tried using the bandwidth management settings to increase throughput however this seemed to have no effect.

Typical wireless performance.
Try change the channel. Other wise nothing else can be done.

Sorry the issue is I get BETTER performance over WIRELESS compared to wired which to me doesnt make any sense

Lol i probably read it around the wrong way.
You wouldnt believe how many of these threads pop up about slow WiFi,
The phone might be recording high, My S4 would sometimes get 110Mb/s over 4G when its maximum is 100Mb/s.

Is that from the same device, so the only difference is the physical connection?

If not, I'd say is just a difference in the speedtest clients.

If you have the options on the router check that your PC is connected at full duplex. Its not common anymore but it could be a auto negotiation issue and its only running at half duplex etc.

yep, it looks like a miss reading.

what are your modem stats out of interest? your upstream on wired seems rather low.

Yeah thanks guys I dont seem to have the problem anymore, Im wondering if it was a temporary ISP issue as i only checked speeds because Youtube started buffering when it normally never did. My modem stats are horrible Im part of the RBI initiative but here they are

in both cases, it looks a little slow.

you say your part of RBI?

do you mean your on a rural cabinet, which has been upgraded under RBI?

Im not to sure exactly sorry, I just get this when I enter my address into the chorus network capability map:

RBI Broadband > 1 Mbps

RBI Broadband > 1Mbps. As far as im aware im part of the KME exchange
