Current ISP is Snap and I have VDSL at home getting about 40/10 speed. I have a Fritzbox which works ok but I am wanting to run something in bridge mode to a Sophos UTM virtual machine for routing. Ive seen Draytek and Zyxel mentioned as good options for bridging - are they still the good options to go for? Only want to spend around $100 - $150 max.

Thanks

I'm going to be slightly bias here, but I have a Vigor 130 - It's been rock solid, in bridge mode. Thoroughly recommend it.

It's been connected and up for the last 175 days, without any drops in service. (other than reassignment of new IP's.)
I've got mine bridged to a router running a custom build of OpenWRT, best combo IMO.

A few people complained about the menu's for the Vigor in order to put it into Bridge mode, but to be honest, it was pretty simple, the establish a PPPoE session from your router and you're off!

have a vigor 130, seems good so far.  Everyone seems to recommend them.  Lots of people upgrading to fibre, so you can probably grab a second hand one in the wanted section or on trademe.  Lots of enterprise level modems as well on trademe if you want to spend a bit more.

Draytek or Zyxel, I'd go with whatever is cheaper at the time.

Vigor 130 had some early issues that were resolved with firmware updates. The NZ distributor (Snapper Net) is generally good/responsive. So nothing to worry about there.

+1 for Draytek 130,
Just replaced a Zyxel with the draytek due to needing to hard reset the Zyxel when it the wireless link in between it and the Mikrotik went down.
Also the Zyxel gui used to get laggy at times when occasionally checking stats.
Draytek in comparison for me works solidly and no lag in gui.
Draytek worked out of the box from accent / snappernet. most annoying feature of draytek is reboot after changing any settings.
Draytek also very lean on line stats , but if it holds like my old vigor 120 I will be happy

Also a bonus was the setup sheet, included with the Draytek. although once u have configured either one once you could do it in the dark
