Hi all, my first post

I am relatively new to bluetooth and I have recently purchased an Ipaq 5550.

I am able to connect to my PC via the usb bluetooth dongle, use the internet, email and activesync all without any problems.
However I am unable to view the drives and files on my pc. Whenever I type in the name of my pc in file explorer i get an error message "network resource not found or you do not have permission".

Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong or have any links to an idiots guide?

Cheers
Marc

I'm not sure whether you'll get this and i'm no expert myself but I believe because your trying to access files from somewhere other than your account you have to change your permissions on the computer.

What windows are you running, i'm going to assume XP and carry on from there.

First you need to enable advanced file sharing:
Go into explorer, tools, view tab
Go right down to the bottom and deselect the 'use simple file sharing' box.
Apply all this

Now we need to change the actual permissions:
Navigate to the folder on the computer which you wish to share (eg: My Documents) [If you wan't to share everything them go to c:\]
Right click on that folder and go properties (if your already in the folder then do this in a blank area)

You should now see a 'sharing' tab and a 'security' tab:
First go to the sharing tab and choose to share this folder, choose a share name and then click on 'permissions'.
If your on a network or other people use your computer I would suggest you create a new group/user by pressing add - then try and add your Ipaq or somthing [im not sure about this]. If you do get it added then give it full control.
Otherwise just allow full control for the 'everyone' user/group.

Apply that and then go to the security tab:
Again if your on a network or share your computer try to add your ipaq first and then give it full control.
Again, otherwise you will need to add 'Everyone' and give it full control (to do this you just type 'everyone' into the big white box that appears when you click add).
If you want more security you could try just adding your username in this box and giving that full control, if this is done and you try to access the files from another computer you will be promted for your windows password however im not sure whether your ipaq will prompt you.

Apply this and you should be able to access the files. Good luck. Also im sorry if this is too basic for you and likewise if its too complicated I wasn't sure what you would understand. If you don't understand some of it then i'll try and explain better.

P.S. Hopefully you didn't just need me to say 'you need to give your ipaq the permissions on the files' lol.

P.P.S. One of the mods better save this incase someone else wan'ts to know, don't want to type all that out again (not that I didn't mind for you toonboy :P)

P.P.P.S. Too many Ps's Argggggg..................
