So when I pair a BT gadget with my computer, is it paired with the computer, or with the computers BT adapter?

The reason I ask, is that I've been having issues getting my BT mouse AND A2DP audio working at the same time over my laptops internal BT (BCM2035, BT1.2), so have resorted to using the BT2.0 EDR usb adapter that came with my BT mouse (Logitech MX1000BT, from MX5000 desktop set.)

It seems to me that the whole point of having bluetooth on a lappy is so you don't have to plug a bunch of cr@p into the USB's all the time, so I deeply resent having to use the the plug-in adapter instead of the built-in one. Therefore, I think it'd be neat if I was able to pair all my BT gear with the computer and have it connect with whichever adapter I happen to be using at the time.

It'd be great for situations where I don't want to have the USB stick sticking out the side the the laptop, (those USB sticks are just asking to be knocked, bumped, twisted or otherwise destroyed, and thus breaking at best my USB port, at worst, the laptops whole motherboard.)

The widcomm configuration panel lets me set which adapter to use as 'preferred,' and then it disables the other one. But if I unplug the 'preferred' USB one my BT gadgets don't seem to want to connect to the backup internal BT adapter, and I'm having to re-pair them.

So is it possible to get 'the gadgets' to connect automagically to my computer using whatever BT adapter is available?

cheers,
Jeff

Different hardware, different software, pairing information stored in different places. You can't go around it. Why not disable the internal Bluetooth adapter and use the external if it's the only that works? Better still, check with the manufacturer to see if there's an updated driver - these sort of things are normally fixed with updates.
