I have a customer who would like to monitor the usage of the network by both looking at the users connected and their individual use.

I am currently running a network with both hard-wired computers and several devices on the WiFi network using several Ubiquiti - UAP Pro devices. I can see the number of users connected to each access point with the management software but cannot see any specific information relating to the user to gauge how much that particular user has downloaded/uploaded etc.

Has anybody heard of software that can monitor both WiFi and hard-wired connections and usage?

Perhaps have a look at Untangle

The UniFi software shows you a full breakdown of clients and usage. Not quite sure why you haven't seen this in there.

If you are wanting to actually do anything meaningful such as logging usage long term or shaping users you'll need to move to radius based authentication for users.
