I recently aquired the 3Com 3CRWB6096B minus the CD etc...

The 3Com downloads section of their website isn't working. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might be able to get them? (Have already searched google...)

Thanks

What are your plans for this adapter?

Plan on using it for connecting my (soon to be got) K700 with my dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. Either for sending files and connecting via GPS.

I have tested it with a friends T610 but it doesn't work. The computer recognises the card but says that the drivers aren't installed (which is fair enough because they aren't).

Thanks

Ok... Just to know. Because 3COM supports only file transfer and serial ports, nothing else really. As long as you know it.

when you say only file transfers and serial ports you mean you can't use GPS?

Can't you just set up a network and install the phone as a modem in windows?

You can use GPS, it'll use a serial port you define. And you can use a mobile phone as a modem, no problem. You'll not have headset, LAN (PPP) and LAN (PAN).

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Ok got this working, now i'm considering other ways I could use this...

Currently i'm on a network. With one of these (http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/40c41c180a80be842740c0a87f99074a/Product/View/XH8083) would I be able to plug the network cord (that usually goes straight into my laptop) into that and then roam around the place using the bluetooth card.

Also when i'm at home can you connect that product to a dial up connection?

Bad news then. As I said the 3COM is very weak. It supports a very limited set of profiles, and the DSE Bluetooth LAN Access Point requires a client with PAN support. Your 3COM Bluetooth will not connect to it.

Have been reading through the documentation that came with it and it does mention being able to connect to access points (although it doesn't mention PAN - DUH! why would they go on about what it can't do).

Does this mean that a different access point would work (and no doubt cost more money). Also i noticed no mention of APN on the product page for the DSE electronics product, how did you know?

You mean PAN, not APN (this is for GPRS networks, not LAN).

I have a friend who's using the DSE Access Point. It can only connect via PAN, not LAP.

Would a differen't acess point work? If so how do I know it isn't APN?

You have to check the specs. Belkin is available in New Zealand and supports both types (LAP/APN). I use Bluetake and it's LAP only.
