Hi,

I am on a Bigpipe 200/200 UFB connection using WXC MP264 router.

I just bought a Tenda W1800R wireless AC1750 gigabit router and want to use the AC wireless.

I have the routers plugged in as follow: ONT -> WAN on MP264 then LAN on MP264 -> WAN on W1800R.

The issue is that there is no internet traffic going from the MP264 LAN to the W1800R WAN. I have selected DHCP under the WAN setting for W1800R but still doesn't work.

Please let me know what other info you need to help with my issue.

TIA

Hook the mp264 to the LAN port of the 1800r and don't enable DHCP on the 1800r. Leave DHCP to the mp264 - you don't want two DHCP servers.

What address is on the mp264 and what did you set in the 1800r?

Sorry forgot to mention I got a static IP address from Bigpipe to fix the VoIP incoming call issue on the MP264.

The IP address on the MP264 is 192.168.2.1 and I have no idea what IP address to set on the 1800r.

I tried plugging the MP264 into the 1800r LAN, it comes up with cable not plugged in correctly or something like that.

set the ip address on the 1800r to 192.168.2.2 but anything on that subnet is fine

Still no joy....frown

I also have a gigabit switch and a PC running off the LANs on the MP264.

I've tried disabling DHCP on the 1800R and have the MP264 plugged into 1800R's LAN, it worked but that means the internet on my PC doesn't.

I even spent about an hour on the to Tenda tech support but still unable to resolve the issue.

I wonder if the fact that I have a static IP from Bigpipe, my internet connection type is not dhcp but a static IP one?

Static IP on your WAN (Internet) has nothing to do with DHCP on your LAN.

What is the GB switch for? What is plugged into it?

What IP no. and gateway is on the PC (command prompt then  ipconfig /all)? Pretty hard to see what would knock the PC off.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I have got 3 smart TVs plugged into the gb switch

I will check when I get home.

Update:

I have a little progress, managed to get the WAN on the W1800R connected to MP264 by selecting static IP as internet connection type and entering IP address, default gateway and primary & secondary DNS server details (got these details from MP264).

Issues now are when I tried to connect my HTC M8 to the wireless on W1800R, it either takes ages to connect/assign an IP address and once it is connected to wireless, no internet access on it.

Instruction above was to connect to 1800R LAN interface not the WAN interface. Given the lack of details re: your last attempt really impossible for anyone to assist but no routing would occur if both 1800R interfaces are on the same subnet.

If you continue to post please advise what addresses are on each interface.

Thanks for all the help.

Have managed to get wireless working on the W1800R, using the method suggested as above by disabling DHCP on W1800R and hooking MP264 up to the LAN.
