Hi

my DSL G604T Modem (Firmware Version: V3.00B02.NZ.20060711)  seems to just reset every couple of min. With just the power light remaining on then the rest of the lights come back on after about 30 sec. However I think it is overheating, are there any cheap cooling systems out there for modems?

Thanks Smile

They do get hot but not to the point of restarting or locking up.
Where is it (on another appliance? Good airflow?)

It would be easy to mod one of these by cutting a hole in the side, and attaching a silenx or similar 80mm fan. Just a case of wiring it in nicely.

Or whacking on a passive heatsink on the offending component(s) is probably simpeler yet!

Dlinks reboot if they have an issue with the ADSL signal. If you disconnect the phone line from the router then the rebooting should stop. If it doesn't stop then it possibly is overheating.

Or of course you could buy a REAL modem/router! we had great pleasure driving slowly over one of these then dumping the clutch at 7500RPM... poor fence.

Inside the DC-DC converters get hot and or thrown in a bad state... notice how it also makes a screechy noise when running?

Hi, can you post some details of what you've done?
I've the same problem and I'm thinking to put some passive cooler on it.

Tnx

its not really worth buying a cooler, so i just grabbed some cooling elements from the freezer and packed it down.Laughing

then at night i just switch the modem off and put the cooling ellements back into the feezer.

For the lower end of the price range just avoid D-link. I hear Linksys and netgear are good. I Use a 3com and it's superb but pricey.

If you got the dosh, Billion or the amazing Draytek.

I am using the 604T and haven't had any overheating problems.  It does get warm but never hot.
