Hi guys, quick question just to confirm. I am using a Asus 68U ADSL/VDSL modem and am getting tired of having to update the IP's on the familys devices for Unblock Us when the want to watch Netflix, Sling TV etc. I have thought about getting a static IP but am not sure if this can be set up through my current device or if i need tio connect it to a seperate router and set it through that device. Just some clarification please. Cheers.

Just talk to your isp, you will likely need to pay for a static ip.

it should work fine in your setup.

Thanks, yes they do it for $10 month. Just wanted to make sure it was right for my setup and you confirmed it. Cheers.

I use unblockus, don't have a static IP and I can't recall ever having to update IP addresses (not even sure what the process is to do that?)  It pretty much always just works. Any idea why your IP changes so frequently?

If the connection goes down a lot then that indicates a problem with the connection.

Can you install an updater app on any of the PCs on the lan? One that you wont take offsite and have it update to other connections so a desktop or laptop that never moves.

unotelly also give a URL that will just update the IP to the one it comes from. You could bookmark that for family members if unblockus have something similar.

With unotelly they do something where if the dyn dns updates are done on the router and you have their DNS in there, then you can put the name in on your account and any update going to that name will update your IP on the account. The great thing is the domain you are updateing doesnt even have to be real.

You can just leave the Unohelper app running on a PC on your LAN (I have it running on my Plex server) and this keeps your IP updated on their records.  Save yourself $10pm
