We are with slingshot. Wired connections are fine and are usually around 90/23mbps. We have 2 pc's connected wired, We have 3 more on wifi who seem to have problems with the connection. We have tried using an Ethernet cable to connect the main router but no connection. The desktop pc's just wont recognise the connection. It worked fine with another modem though

what router are you using? what OS on the computers

you need to provide as much detail as possible so people can help you

WiFi is not, and never will be a replacement for cabled Ethernet. As the 2.4Ghz WiFi band is completely congested in many urban areas it's a very common cause of problems and as a result there are hundreds of posts from people on here discussing this very same issue.

What basic fault finding or disagnosis have you done?

I had a similar issue to you, odd wireless issues.

Resolved it by getting an AC router, AC PCIe card and I haven't looked back. Max out internet at 30mbit (as per contract) and upload at 10mbit (as per contract.)

Still no connection when you connected a desktop PC to the main router? So how many routers do you have?? Are the computers that dont connect ever able to connect to anything?

Sounds like you may have disabled the LAN and Wifi on the computer... When it doesn't "connect" by a LAN cable, does the computer get an IP address? You can find that out by a DOS command and paste the results in here.

Get onto the computer thats not connected after you plugged in the RJ45 LAN cable.
Press command-R and the "find" or "run" menu should pop up.
Type in CMD and press enter. The DOS screen (command prompt) should pop up.
Type in IPCONFIG and press enter. It will display the status of both wireless and LAN as well as some other stuff.
If you cant select the text displayed, right click in the DOS screen and choose select.
Select the results and then right click, choose copy.
Paste the copied info here in the forum. This is the easiest way for other people to see the actual network status of your computer.
