Hi

At work we have a VPN that allows us to connect to the work server from home.
The server is a mac running osx 10.8.5.

anybody using a mac laptop can connect without any problems, and have full access to the server.
when anybody with a win 8.1 machine tries to connect they get an error message saying that either the username or password is wrong (not) or that there is a protocol / port error
it is not a router issue, as we have connected both types of laptop to the same wireless hotspot (phone), with the mac connecting but the win8.1 machine not.

can any body point me in the right direction to fix this.

thanks Greg

What type of VPN? What type of authentication? Is it random whether they show a protocol error vs a login error, or is there a trigger that changes it? Are other versions of Windows able to connect, e.g. Win7?
