Can anyone shed some light on how you are supposed to configure the LAN IP address on the Zyxel P-870H-51A V2 vDSL routers?

Whenever I try and change the router's LAN IP address I cannot get back into the web config.
Just keep getting the 'Page cannot be displayed' error when trying to access the new IP address.
Trying to access the original IP address also does not work.

The router does actually work on the new IP address, EG: I can ping it and it connects to the internet and traffic passes through it OK, it's just the web config isn't accessible any more.

I have a couple of these routers and they both do the same thing.

The only way to get back into them is to do a hard reset with the Reset button on the back.
Everything else about the routers works perfectly, it's just the problem accessing the web config pages once the IP address has been changed from the default.

They are both 2talk supplied so not sure if that makes any difference?

We have sold dozens and dozens of these without having that problem once that I can recall.

What firmware version?

I'll check the firmware and let you know.

Were yours 2talk supplied ones?
I think the 2talk ones might have a custom firmware on them as even after doing the hard reset with the button on the back the default 2talk settings are still in the unit.  Plus the default IP on these is supposed to be 192.168.1.1, according to the user manual, but the 2talk ones are 192.168.10.1.

No we buy direct, so we get them vanilla. Sounds funky to me.

I only ever got one of those routers from 2Talk and remember the admin password had been changed to something random and they wanted me to login with 'user' as opposed to 'admin.

Factory reset fixed that no problem =)

Factory fresh default should be 192.168.1.1 and user/password is admin/1234.

But yea from then on just bought direct and once DV130 came out switched to that.

So I had to disable a couple of options under the Advanced - Remote MGMT menu.

Under the Service Control and IP Address tabs, set those both to disabled then changed the LAN IP address again and was able to access the web config.

The issues you mention usually happen when first trying to set up the modem/router from any ethernet port other than port one as per instructions.

I made sure I was in port 1.
The only fix was as I mentioned above.
