I've acquired a switch that I intend to install in a rack at home.

There does exist an "official" rackmount component you can purchase but the price is sky high.

Anyone know where I could find the equivalent of what I've pictured? Searching Amazon has been fruitless - most rackmount ear products tend to be specific to a particular product. I have no problem getting the drill out to custom make the holes to connect the ears to the switch.

We've had trouble getting rack mounting 'ears' via official channels.  It's a PITA.  They should settle on a standard or three!

You might be better to get a strip of steel and go custom as you mention.  Or aluminium and support it at the back of the aluminium looks like it might twist.

Or buy a rackmount shelf and firmly attach the switch to that.  The result would likely be slightly bigger than 1U.

Or perhaps find an old rackmount shelf and cut the shelf up a bit to mount the switch and keep it within 1U size.

Old rackmount network gear is cheap as chips via IT recyclers.  You might be able to get another set of ears to 'adjust' somewhat.

I have a box of random ones I bought from a recycler a while back. What length do you need from the end of the ear to the inside surface of the switch? I can see what I have. Most seem to be cisco ones tho.
