Hi all,

I recently acquired a D-Link DIR890L router (love how fast it is), at the moment however my wifi connection seems to be pretty unstable (sometimes i have to switch Wifi Off and then On again for the internet to work).

A quick google search suspects that it might be something called "Double NATing"? my knowledge of 'Network' talk is pretty poor so please if you can confirm that this is the problem and if it is walk me through some simple solution steps that would be great.

My modem is a standard modem from Vodafone - the Huawei HG659.

Please ask any Qs if you have and i can do my best to answer!

Thanks guys,

Dave

So you connect DIR890L to HG659?

DIR890L doesn't do vlan tagging so no bridging with HG659.

You will need to configure DIR890L as an access point.
There should be guides on the web for this or similar models.

Basically, disable everything "server"-ish (DHCP, uPNP, firewall) and plug in a cable from HG659 to a *LAN* port on DIR890L

oh, and either disable wireless on HG659 or set the same SSID and security, but different wi-fi channels on both devices.
