hey guys is anyone know if TP-link Archer D7 would work with spark fiber??? it will work if i connect it to the router but not working if directly connect to the ONT!! worked around but could not figure out, called a few times spark helpline they just give me the setting and also called tp link no help.

the router/ modem spark has provided us not good at all...

You'll need to set up the TP-Link with VLAN Tagging enabled on the WAN port (VLAN 10), as well as enabling PPPoE and setting up the correct username and password for that. Someone who's done it can explain a bit more, but if you know what you're up to that's enough to let you blunder through.

Doesn't look there is an option to tag a VLAN on the WAN interface.

Probably the easiest option would be use the Spark router to authenticate and do NAT/Firewall & DHCP and then just use the TP-Link as an access point only.

Basically go to the TP-Link and set the LAN IP address to 192.168.1.253. Disable DHCP. The just set the 'WAN' to PPPoA (but obviously it isn't connected) so that it doesn't exclude the ethernet port 4 from the LAN bridge.

Now just connect the TP-Link to the Spark router. Plug in to any one of the spare ethernet ports and you should be able to browse to both 192.168.1.254 (spark router) and 192.168.1.253 (tp-link). If you do 'ipconfig /all' your default gateway, dhcp server and dns server should be 192.168.1.254. Then do a traceroute to trademe (tracert -d trademe.co.nz) - we don't care about any of the hops except the first one. The first hop should be 192.168.1.254 and the second should be a public IP address. if the second IP address is in the 192.168.x.x range you have done something wrong and have double NAT.

Once those checks have been completed you can now go and set up the wireless on the TP-Link as you would please.

lolz if wanted to connect this modem at the back of the spark router i don't need to do anything just need to connect to spark router and works. but i wanted to connect this modem/router directly to the ONT. when i bought this from warehouse stationary they said this will work with the fiber but it seem it doesn't.

Well I suggest you go back to the wonderful people at Warehouse Stationary and ask them to configure it for you. Looking at the user manual there doesn't look to be the option to tag a VLAN on the WAN interface.

The Archer D7 can only do ADSL2+, you need to connect it to a VDSL/Fiber modem to work on those connections.

It's a play on words if you look at the product page. I also thought that for such an expensive modem you would expect it to do more than just ADSL2+.

Completely incorrect.

Product description for this device indicates support for Ethernet WAN, An ADSL2+ modem in this device is simply an extra feature.

The question in this case is does it support WAN VLAN tagging, From my brief searching and looking at the Emulator below I'm not finding it.

I could be just not looking correctly or it may not be there, If it doesn't support it then it should work fine if the ISP can swap the UFB service to untagged otherwise it will require a device that supports this feature.

it can do UFB, just on an untagged UFB connection

moot point really when the op has a tagged connection

Most modern Asus and Linksys router will happily work, and almost anything recent you can flash dd-wrt or gargoyle of any third party firmware to, really.

I think the tp-link archer c7 would be the way to go if only using for ufb looks like it supports vlan tagging
