Hi,

I'm trying to connect my home UFB with Orcon using a Pace V5542 modem (Telecom branded) that I have, because the one supplied by Orcon was having connection problems all the time, wasn't responding to my configurations etc.

However the feeling I'm getting is that to connect to Orcon UFB you need to set your router to DHCP over Ethernet mode, which I can't find on the V5542. I can only find 'routed' (which seems to mean PPPoE) or 'bridged' connections.

Strangely enough in the 'bridged' mode the router itself thinks it isn't connected, but my mobile phone can browse the internet when connected to the V5542's WiFi. I suppose the phone is taking the DHCP address meant for the router, but the router doesn't seem to want to take a DHCP address from its WAN port over ethernet.

Anyway, I can't get the router to connect to my Orcon UFB properly on its own and was wondering if anyone could possibly help me. Otherwise I suppose I'll need to buy a new router.

Thanks,
Llewellyn

That Pace thing is very limited in what you can change, good luck.

If your Orcon modem was giving you trouble, did you log it with the helpdesk?  We have thousands deployed without incident so if you were having such serious problems it may be a faulty unit, or it may not be the modem at all...
