Hi, so after a lot of hours trying to get the modem that came from my ISP (Trust Power) to play nice with my Linksys WRT 1900AC, I gave up on it, and bought a DrayTek Vigor 120 (Annex A Modem V2).

Now, after putting the DrayTek modem in PPPoE/PPPoA Passthrough mode, and the Linksys running in PPPoE mode, with my ISP login, The internet will connect for maybe 5-10 seconds, then disconnect, and repeat.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Cheers

Nope, but for some reason I couldn't get this setup working either on BigPipe using the factory Firmware on the WRT1900AC, it seemed to work fine when on OpenWRT.

Sorry to ask, but what's Big Pipe? Should I be looking into custom firmware for the DrayTek?

Hang on a minute... I just re-read your post... They've finally got OpenWRT for the WRT1900AC!?

BigPipe is an ISP.

Gotcha. Okay, thanks I'll try OpenWRT on the Linksys. Hopefully that sorts the problem.

Well... I think I just bricked my Linksys. I flashed an OpenWRT firmware and now I just get a blinking power light.

Yeh you dont need to do anything to the bridge. It is just a dumb bridge doing its job. It will more than likely be the WRT1900AC, It might be getting a radius response from the ISP that it doesnt like or doesnt know how to cope with and drops the connection.

Sorry dont know much about the unit itself but open WRT is probably your best bet. Linksys WRT units have been pretty popular for years. I still got an old WRT54G. The standard firmware on that was rubbish too. I thought I had bricked that a few times over the years but with the reset button I was able to sort it.

Thanks for your response. I did a google and it sounds like there is hope. With any luck I'll find a way to unbrick this thing... ZZzzz man, it's really been a huge ordeal this internet thing...

I mean to send this an hour ago...maybe too late!

Surely just don't bridge the device...

Run it with the WRT1900AC pointing to the IP of the Draytek for internet, and plug in the Draytek ino the WAN port of the router.  Then change Gateway IP to the Draytek so you can always access it.

Is there any reason for using bridge mode?

Follow instructions here for 30/30/30 reset http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hard_reset_or_30/30/30

Thanks for your replies. Basically the only reason I was setting the modem up in bridge mode is that's the way I knew about to get the Linksys to work on my network. I tried the 30/30/30 reset, and no change. All the solutions I've found so far require the router to give up an ip address... Anyways, I'll keep trying, and if I come up with a solution, I'll let you all know about it.

So I've got my Linksys up and running again, and on OpenWRT. Took a while, but it's done. Any chance you could give me your settings lxsw20? OpenWrt looks really foreign...
