Hi

I have been having a number of connection issues with my Belkin N450 (F9K1105 v1) wireless router.

I went to check that the firmware was up to date and noticed that at some point I have flashed the Belkin N600 firmware onto the device.

I have gone to the Belkin site and downloaded the correct firmware for the N450 but when I attempt to flash it the device says: Upgrade file is not the correct type or version for this device. Upgrade failed. Please obtain the correct file and try again.

I have also tried a 30/30/30 reset.

What can I do to fix my router?

This is a "contact Belkin" situation.

I'm amazed it works at all :)

So... turns out I own a Belkin N600 and the device was labeled & shipped incorrectly as a N450. Doesn't solve my connection issues but that's something.

I am pretty sure N600 and N450 are not the model numbers. Netgear also has NXXX routers with the model in fine print.

Anyhow you need to do a firmware recovery.

I am not sure of the process for your model, but generally you hold down the reset button as you switch on the power.
You continue to hold it down for about 20 seconds and it goes into firmware recovery mode. At this point you plug a computer in, assign a static ip, and "push" a copy of the firmware to the device using its recovery ip address with some TFTP software.

Its quite a simple process - but you will need firmware recovery instructions for your particular model of router.
