I spend all night trying to configure my IPAQ to share my desk tops internet connection, now I am getting the error message 'unable to initiate the bluetooth connection (error code: 0x81000196)'
I have followed your tutorial except I run up against a few problems my computer logs on to the internet via a broad band modem, I don't have an IP address as such the 'obtain an IP address automatically' box is ticked and the IP address boxes are greyed out. I think this must be where the problem lies.
any help much appreciated

You have to enter the IP address on the Bluetooth adapter. In this case it'll be available and you can change to manually enter the address. Of course, if you're using anything but your cable modem (for example a router) then you have to make sure the required address (192.168.0.1) will not conflict.

Read the guide again, and you'll see that you don't change any configuration on the adapter connected to the Internet, except for the Internet Connection Sharing checkbox.

Thanks I don't have the 'local area connection' Icon on my computer that you show in your tutorial.. this is what has really confused me. Any idea how I can get this icon?
