So I have been in contact with a very helpful (so far) netgear service department.
They have agreed the unit a ReadyNAS NV+ v2 is faulty and instigated a RMA protocol.
At the moment there seems to be some confusion as to what unit it will be replaced with.
This has bearing on whether I will be able to save the 8tb of data I have and back it up to the new system I believe?.

I was impressed that I have been receiving replies through the holiday period.

At present I am waiting to hear where to send the unit to as apparently I am suppose to bear this cost.
If the unit was sold in New Zealand I should imagine that our Draconian Consumer laws would only require return to the place of purchase in New Zealand, wouldn't you agree?

I will be impressed if this all happens as I only have less than 1 month in the 3 year warranty.
I will post progress here

Just returned my MyBookLive to Noel Leeming as it had developed bad blocks. 3 year warranty expires next April. I will be without a replacement for several weeks, though.

Good luck with yours. Glad I don't have 8TB of data to copy!!

For all the ReadyNAS RMA's I have done they have always gone to Fixtronics on the North Shore in Auckland at my cost.
They also seem to always stuff up sending the new replacement through customs...

They have stopped supplying me with NAS's running the old OS4 for replacements, I have only got OS6 devices for the last couple of RMA's.
If this is the case you will have to wipe the disks (there is a SLIM chance you might be able to boot the new device with OS4 and recover data, I have done this once).

The netgear agent I am conversing with on the support desk system states that the address for returns is Australia

That cant be right ? seeing as how item was purchased here?

No it's probably not right, I would say their useless support team is confused again.

I am waiting on an answer to my question I have sent them

As the unit is exactly the same model as before

Do i just install my 4 cadiies and boot up?

I was wondering if the new unit had a different or more uptodate OS on it and would that screw up my 8TB of data?

If it is the same model you can just put the old drive caddies in and start it up, everything should be the same (sometimes network settings change for some reason).
The OS is stored on the HDD's themselves.
