The H3870 and H3970 share the same Bluetooth version, so for configuration you can follow our guides.

About Bluetooth USB devices for your computer, you can probably find some at your local Staples shop or click in our Store menu to go Eletronics and Bluetooth. Our store is run in association with Amazon.com

For brands, I'd vote first for TDK, then Belkin, DLINK, but anyone with the Widcomm stack, really. Note this does not include the 3COM brand.

Hi, I´ve been looking for a USB adapter lately. I looked for the brands TDK and Belkin, even though it seems they´re EXPENSIVE! (I mean more than $85).

What´s the problem in buying cheaper adapters? Compability? Isn´t this an standard? Or they have a poor range? or what´s the problem? Please let me know, thanks!

I think the cheaper ones don't release updated drivers and firmware with the same frequency as the bigger companies. And this makes a difference.

You can see how many people on the newsgroups ask how to change the .inf files on the software released by other brands, to make it work with the cheaper ones.

OIC! Good point => updates!

Even though, is it possible to update the firmware of the cheap devices or not?

I have also seen there are adapters with a description that says 2.4 ghz, doesn't bluetooth work on another frequency? why do they mention that?

I need a couple hints for a bluetooth newbie buying an Adapter, even though I like to build my criteria on what I'm buying, so please not only say "buy this or that", just explain a little bit why you think its the best. Thanks for you guys who can take a minute to reply! :P

The frequency is 2.4Ghz, but I thikn they make it explicit in the documentation because of legal reasons. This is the non-regulated frequency, used by Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and some medical equipments.

But isn't 2.4 Ghz the frequency for newer cordless phones?
Do Bluetooth devices have a conflict with them?
Any should read "paper" about Bluetooth technology?
