Hi,

Currently running some Unifi AP's with the promotional url being used as a landing page. Working great on iOS but on Android and Windows Phone it seems to show up but then it disappears after 1 second.

It seems to stay open with older versions of Android so I am thinking its something to do within Android itself.

Just wondering if anybody had any workarounds or ideas to stop it disappearing?

Had a search in the Unifi forums but only found a topic describing the same issue without any solutions that seems to work (https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Wireless/Promotional-URL-not-working-on-Windows-Phone-and-Android/td-p/1190015).

Any ideas?

Probably related to the way iOS and Android detect captive portals. There were significant changes to Android from 4.4 (from memory) onwards so that a phone didn't become stuck when it connected to a WiFi network that had a captive portal and would continue to use mobile data until you had signed into the captive portal which is indicated by the ? in the bar.

What's wrong with simply showing a simple captive portal home page?

It would be nice to be able to show them a link to various social media accounts. Which seem to work great on older versions and iOS. Would it be possible to have the build in android browser open after the authentication has taken place?
