I'm on Telstra cable and find my router seems to play up at times. It's running 2 desktops (wired) and 1 wireless laptop and the Internet connection seems to drop out intermittently (which is the annoying thing - if it was doing it all the time I'd know it was faulty but it just seems flaky more then anything).
Essentially it can run for days with no problems and then the Net connection drops out and other days it drops on multiple occasions throughout the day. Occasionally it comes right by itself, other times I do a reboot of the cable modem and router. I'm reasonably certain these drop outs are not due to the modem as the send/receive lights remain on. I don't mind having to do the occasional router reboot, but when I lose net connection when I'm VPNing into work or simply surfing the net, it's frustrating as hell.
The interesting thing is that when the net drops on one of the wired machines, often the laptop is fine (and vice versa), although there are instances of both losing net connection. I have patched the router to the latest firmware with no improvement.
Anyway, I wondered if anyone can suggest a reliable router which maintains a steady connection? I'm looking for something with four wired ports, wireless access, security options and would like to spend around $150-$160 at the most.
TIA

Hope they managed to get that fixed at some point in the future!
