I am new to mobile phones and have been given a Motorola v525. On trying to install Bluetooth all appeared to work satisfactorily. The phone located the computer and proceeded to transfer a contact only to display the message: "Transfer rejected".

On checking the desktop I found it the error message:"The search for devices is complete; no devices were located."

On Network devices the Bluetooth "LAN or high speed internet is enabled" and device status shows the selected device is working properly.

A local phone shop advised re-installing the software on the computer while switching off the Norton Anti-virus and WinXP firewall which I did, to no effect.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you paired the devices? Some phones now come with the option to only transfer information to paired devices. When pairing the devices you have to enter the chosen PIN in both computer and phone - on your computer a notification bubble will show up, and this will have a short timeout - 10 seconds.

Also, the Bluetooth Network Cable unplugged is normal - it just means that the network service is active, but there's no device connected to it.

Don't worry reinstalling the software. Make sure your phone is in discoverable mode, then do a search from your computer. Pair the devices and then try transferring information.

Many thanks indeed. Pairing was the answer. Although the instructions manual did not indicate how to do this, the clue was enough to enable me to resolve the difficulty. You have maintained my reputation as an oldie who can keep up with the modern world!!!
