I'm looking at shifting from cable to xDSL.

If I do, I will need a new modem that will do both ADSL and VDSL (there is a wait for VDSL in Island Bay). I don't want a new router; very happy with what I've got and if I do upgrade I'm looking elsewhere.

Can you even still buy non-router modems? Failing that, what's a reliable (but hopefully cheap) combo unit that definitely definitely has a bridge mode. Definitely.

I'd probably go @bigpipenz if I do end up moving. Does their (your?) $99 Huawei option have a bridge mode? Definitely?

Vigor130 is often a goto solution for bridging, many other modems can be forced into it though

@bigpipenz Can I contact someone with some further queries (particularly the likely wait time for VDSL at my particular exchange - Island Bay) without committing to signing up just yet? We haven't actually taken possession of our new place yet and I probably need to check the wiring and stuff there first.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

we don't know the exact situation until we place the order unfortunately.  But if we place the order for VDSL, we'll happily put you on ADSL in the meantime if it's going to be a wait.

the 'normal' wait for ADSL or VDSL is around 4-6 working days, so it's generally best to get your order in sooner rather than later (you can future date it of course, so it won't disconnect current tenants etc
