Hi
I have a dell inspiron with Dell Truemobile 300 Internal BT Module, the latest dell drivers are widcomm 1.4.1.3. My Hp Ipaq 2210 will work over BT (ex. partner, activesync, access the internet thru a bridged connection), BUT each time Windows XP Pro (SP1) starts up, I have to manually ENABLE each service, ex. the "My bluetooth serial port" service for activesyncing, or the "bluetooth network" for internet. They are set to start automatically! If I do not enable them the ipaq cannot connect.

If I bring up "advanced configuration", go to the "local services" tab, and look at the services, ex. "Bluetooth serial port" , it IS listed as "automatically startup", and hitting properties shows that this box IS checked! But each time i boot XP, I cannot active sync until I go to "My bluetooth places/my devices" and click the serial service and then click ENABLE

Is this a bug?? I did extensive searching and no-one else seems to have problems with BT services starting up automatically to wait for connections.

Thanks

One thing I noticed, I am not sure if this is relevant. Under Advanced Configuration, HARWARE tab, under DEVICES it say "Bluetooth device is not detected" , and under DEVICE PROPERTIES it says "Device not found.. may be not installed properly, powered off, disabled or non operational.. see windows device manager".

This is while I have servies manually enabled and working perfectly! Device manager lists my bluetooth module as working fine?

I tried reinstalling bluetooth drivers, still same problems.

It maight be a problem with the registry information for the user being logged. Perhaps you could try creating a new user with Administrator rights, log as this new user, unplug your Bluetooth hardware, remove the Bluetooth software, reboot, and still using this new user reinstall the software.

Then after this go back to log as the original user. See if this helps.

Mauricio,
I tried the remove/reinstall under a different administrator user profile, and unfortunetly the still no services will start up automatically, but must be manually enabled? I have a feeling it may be due to some problem with the widcomm drivers (1.4.1.3, even though dell states they are 1.4.1.5 SP4??) - as I mentioned under the advanced config/hardware tab it still for some reason says "device not connected" even though the BT works otherwise fine?? Maybe the driver has a problem with the dell internal bluetooth module (which is still USB based according to device manager) ??

Any other suggestions? this is driving me nuts, especially as I was hoping to get a BT mouse, but if i have to manually enable the serial port every boot up, i will be playing around with keyboard controls :(
