Help please

I'm new to the forums so just want to firstly say hi

I have a DSL-g604T wireless router connected to my Pc (WinXP home service pack 2) via a ethernet cable, and 2 Laptops connecting to the wireless port. One laptop is a compaq Presario (quite old) and the other is an ibook using an airport express card.

The problem is that the wireless connection is either very, very low signal strength (only works when sitting by the rouster...sometimes) or completely non-existent.

This problem has been happening for about 2 weeks.

Please help...to me it sounds like the router's aerial is stuffed.

P.S our ISP is Ihug

Hi,

Has it ever worked with a decent signal or have you only been on wireless for 2 weeks ?
Any cordless phones that are running on the 2.4ghz range ?
If so, try turning them off comepltely then check the wifi signal...... if its betetr then thats your problem, some cordless phones do interfere with wifi.
I switched to DECT/1.8 phones when I found that out :)

You could also try changing the wireless channel, if there is interference from another nearby router (such as a neighbour) it can also cause problems. I'm not sure if DLink's have an "auto select" option but this can be a good option as the router can change channels if it encounters interference or another WiFi connection on the same channel.

I shifted the modem/router to a centralised location and it seemed to work. I got a PCI wireless card foy my PC and it seemed to work

However...the internet is slower than dial-up, even the siganl is strong
