Hey all,

Just got Spark Fibre 20/200, getting 200 speeds just fine using the supplied spark router.

Tried setting up a ASUS RT-AC5300. I have it connected but its only going at half speed, around 94Mbps compared with 207Mbps on the standard spark router.

Just wondering what settings I've missed because I've tried a couple, 3rd party, gigabit routers and I'm getting the same thing suggesting I'm missing something in the settings.

Spark won't help as it isn't theirs. Cheers in advance.

Speed around 93-94Mbps on anything Ethernet typically indicates a 100Mbps FE connection.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

206Mbps down on the Spark router.

96Mbps on the Asus. (I get the same result on a Netgear Nighthawk X4S - another gigabit modem/router)

Have double checked both.

sounds very much like a connection issue between your device and the router

are you testing over wifi or ethernet? if its ethernet could you check the computers connection speed on the network adapter? check its not connected at 100mbps on the other 2 devices?

do you have any other devices you could test over ethernet? sometimes it can be a driver conflict between the device and the router that can cause the issue

Personally what I would do is use the Spark router but turn everything else off including the wifi. Then use the Asus as an Accesspoint/switch.

Why?

Because that spark router is actually really good, it does suck a little if you get it doing too many concurrent tasks, like WiFi and having a lot of data crossing its 4 ports.

Also you might find the WI-FI on the Asus performs better when its not taking on routing tasks as well. The Wifi on that asus device looks quite good.

Also you are definitely testing the ASUS over Ethernet and not wifi?
