Mine takes about 10 minutes! Takes ages on the loading configuration bit.

I do have zone based FW set up with 6 zones but the rule sets are pretty light. Most of them are just accept established/related.

It is a while since I last timed mine, but I think it takes 3-4 minutes.  I also have zone firewalls (both IPv4 and IPv6), but only four zones.  I do have a reasonable number of rules in quite a few of my zones.  Zone firewalls do seem to take ages to configure, and the CPU is not really fast enough to do it with the interpreter they are using.  I would love to see them add the ability to offload that config processing to one of my fast PCs.

Around 2mins for me.

The stock USB drive on the ERL is quite slow. I imaged the old USB drive onto a Samsung USB 3.0 high speed drive (this one - currently on deals on the Night Market sale if you're quick) and then extended the partition out to the full 32gb of the drive. I don't need 32gb of storage on my router however the speed of the drive makes it quite quick.

Now - don't grab any cheap drive and put it in as the router won't likely boot. I went through a selection of drives before I found one that worked.

Thanks guys. I guess rule processing in the cloud might be a good idea.

With regards to the USB stick, do the newer models still use one?
