Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone currently on Trust Power fibre has configured a third party modem, specifically a dlink viper.
Trust Powers 3rd party modem settings on their website are quite vague and I can not seem to connect.

The viper modem says the 4th port can be configured with VLAN to work with fibre connections. I must be missing some specific details as the modem shows connected to the internet from the Dlink interface but no actual connection when browsing.

Does trust power require VLAN tagging? If yes then the modem will need to support this

Hi yes the modem and trust power support VLAN tagging, it may sound like a silly question but should I require my Trust Power username and password to configure a 3rd party modem?

No you don't need a user name or password for trust power fibre.

If your router truly does support vlan tagging on the wan port, set it to vlan10 and the connection type is DHCP

As mentioned above, you should be able to use the D-Link router as long as it supports VLAN tagging (According to Google this is possible, but requires you to configure the LAN4 port as the WAN Port, which will then give you the VLAN tag option)

Settings should be:

* VLAN Tagging on the WAN Port - VLAN ID 10

* Connection type - IPoE (IP Over Ethernet)/DHCP. PPPoE is not currently supported.

* IPv4 Enabled (Can also run IPv4/IPv6 Dual Stack if your router has the option/supports this)

* DNS - Auto-Detect (Or if you prefer to set these Primary - 202.74.33.0 and Secondary - 202.74.33.1)

Note - That if you are swapping between your Trustpower supplied modem, to your D-Link there may be a period of 5 minutes that your new modem will not be able to connect while it waits for the previous DHCP lease to expire.

If configured like this your connection should work correctly.

If not, Can you confirm if your router is getting a WAN IP when it is saying it is connected?
