Hi I am a bit confused by this.

Have a Linksys WRT1900ACS

On all my windows 10 PC, under Networks I can see a Sony Bravia TV under Displays. Under properties I can see a MAC address and nothing else.

But according to my router, it is not connected to the router.

How can this be? Is there any security risk?

Its possible this is because your neighbours TV is creating its own wifi network with Miracast (I think I have the right name), and your computer is aggregating it into your network window.

Security risk (ish) to them if you scan get on it and broadcast with no authentication.

I guess if you do connect to it, and they have 1337 haX0r skills they could have access to you network through your pc....but it's still in your control given you're doing the connection to the tv.

It's a bit like the listings under Networks whenever the local girl's school had an outing or going-home time .... I'd get 6 or 7 mobile phones coming up

As migrif says, probably a neighbour has a Bravia with wifi turned on .... you are just picking up his/her signal similar to them probably seeing yours on their computers.

That's nearly as weird as my daughter being in her room, casting youtube from her chromebook to her V1 chromecast on her tv and it showing up on my phone.

Fair enough I set the thing up and it's my wifi, but she has her own google account but I can pause and stop it if I want (which is handy because her choice of music is rubbish)
