Hi there,

Is anyone using this router instead of the supplied Huwaei HG659, and if so what kind of speeds are you seeing. Mostly interested in the LAN connected speeds, but would like to know about WiFi performance as well? Did WiFi speed and range improve significantly compared to the Huwaei? I replaced the Huwaei with a NETTGEAR R7000, and I'm very happy with WiFi performance, but LAN connected speeds are 1/3 compared to the Huwaei? Been told by NETGEAR that it could be a hardware issue. Users here on the Forum suggest it's just poor performing hardware and firmware? Thinking of swapping it for the Linksys.

Why waste all your money on routers if WiFi is your only issue? Just buy access point(s) and plug them into the HG659b, remembering that the expectation of a single AP or router covering many large houses is not realistic.

if the only issue with the 659 is the wifi performance just get a 1 or 2 access points and set them up

Thanks, but it's the LAN speeds I'm most concerned about, as I mentioned in the post. As far as WiFi goes, an access point is not a solution in my case as I can't run a CAT6 cable from the device's location to the router. I do a have a WiFi Extender, the NETGEAR WN3000RP, but it did not substantially improve the Huwaei's range and the initial speed from the Huwaei is much slower than the R7000. Currently, I'm sitting 1 metre from the R7000 and I'm seeing 90Mbps on my Samsung S7 on the 2.4 band., That would be as little as 30 Mbps using the Huwaei.

Bottom line, I'm just looking for a device that optimizes my connection speeds, both via LAN and WiFi and was curious to know if anyone had experience with the Linksys?

you can put the access point right next to the hg659 you know, and it can significantly increase your range like buying an all in one could.

the hg659's lan speed is also great. its been proven time and time again.

you want good lan speeds, the 659 has that, you want good wifi, an AP has that. for much less than you you are paying for those other all in one routers

PS one meter is awefully close, you could be over saturating the radio on the phone or on the router

That is exactly how a range extender works so that's working perfectly, and as designed. It's why they're the worst creation ever, and should be avoided at all costs.
