Does the Microsoft Bluetooth software in XP SP2 support the same features as the Widcomm 'Network Access' profile?.

ie. Can I use network applications like VNC or whatever to connect to the host PC via activesync?.

I have Activesysc set to passthru, but I can't even browse remote shared folders on the IPAQ using file explorer.

Before using the Belkin (Widcomm) Network profile, I just had to use ICS to share the Bluetooth adaptor with the local ethernet adaptor, and that let me access Internet, and local files and folders, and also any TCP apps.

However, with XP Sp2 and it's native bluetooth drivers, I can't seem to share anymore using ICS.

Anyone know if I can use ActiveSync like the Network Access Profile?

If you have the Widcomm driver working I recommend not to use the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Bluetooth software. It has less functionality than the Widcomm.

LAN Access is not available on this version, and access to the network through ActiveSync does not work because this is a limited functionality provided by this software. You'll have to go back to the previous version if you want this to work again.

Installed sp2 last night and had problems as Activesync disappeared and when I checked out the bt service, all I could see was a "P" and that was it...stupid question, but can I opt not to install the bt feature or at the very least turn it off/not use it at all? I'm kinda happy w/ my Billionton Bt Software as I have had no problems w/ it. Thanks!!

The "P" thing... In my opinion it's a bug, and I've seen this on Service Pack 1 Release Candidate 1. I've reported this to Microsoft but looks like it's not fixed.

When installing SP2 it'll check if you have a Bluetooth driver already installed. If this is the case, the install routine will not put the SP2 Bluetooth files on your computer. Please send me a private message with an e-mail where I can send a document with instructions to install the other software.
