I normally get 20 - 30 ping around New Zealand servers which is pretty good for local gaming experience but once I get matched up with U.S and Asian players on street fighter my game freezes up, horrific lags as to be expected when playing overseas, I've pinged to u.s and Japan and I'm getting 200 - 300 ping times, is there anyway I can reduce this? I'm on spark fibre 200 connection and have their modem they sent out for free.
If you're connected to the modem by Ethernet wire the simple answer is "no"
The complex answer requires info on every step of your connection, from the game you're playing, the OS, the Ethernet card, the Ethernet cable, the model of the router, and your physical position in NZ.
Moving closer to the cable that leaves the country (Akl) might shave as much as 5-10 from your ping. Moving to the auS would sort the problem completely 😉
If you want better pings to the US or Japan the solution is to move to the US or Japan. Unless somebody fundamentally changes the laws of physics and can make light travel faster then pings can't be reduced.
If a game doesn't perform well with 200-300 ms lag, it's crap. Even modern FPS games are playable at that rate, albeit placing you at a disadvantage especially for sniper vs sniper.

I'm playing street fighter 5 on the PS4 I don't know the model of the router but it was the free one spark sent out. It's a fibre connection, I am connected wired cause i heard it's better than wireless.
