I have a Compaq Desktop with a direct DSL connection. I am sharing the DSL with my Sony Vaio Laptop via 2 bluetooth dongles. Everything works fine except I get an IP address error messege saying "Another computer on the network has the same IP". I can still access the internet via bluetooth on my Laptop but I am unable to get into certain sites. (ex: hotmail, ebay, any windows.com sites) Does anyone have any prior experience with this?! Or any suggestions?!

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

How are you sharing the connection? ICS, Bridge? Have you changed the Bluetooth adapter on the server to be 192.168.0.1 if using ICS? If yes, do you have another DHCP server on your network (perhaps a router)?

On my desktop (server) I have 3 connections listed under "Network Connections". I have my DSL connection, Bluetooth Network and Local Area Conection. I have my DSL connection shared. Under it's properties the IP address is set to "obtain IP address automatically. Under my Bluetooth Network it is set with the IP address 192.168.0.1. As far as the DHCP i'm not sure. I don't have a router. I just have a standard line DSL with a DSL modem. I'm running XP on both computers. Any other ideas? Thanks for your help.

The DSL modem is most likely to be using the 192.168.0.1 address. Are you able to use Bridge instead of ICS?
