I added a Belkin F8T003 BlueTooth adapter to my XP SP2 PC and I get this message every time I boot...

"Windows cannot store Bluetooth link keys on the local transceiver because it cannot determine whether proper security is enabled for the device.'

associated with event ID 18. MS Knowledge Base comes up empty and so does Google except for one post that refernces it here (at least that I found). Any ideas what's up with this? I paired my Nokia 3650 with the adapter but they aren't "auto" discovering each other, even though both are explicitly authorized to do so? Any help appreciated?

Is perhaps a registry related problem? It could be a damaged registry entry. Have you tried removing and installing the software again (if using the Belkin software instead of SP2 Bluetooth stack)?

Found some information on MS KB article: Event ID 18 appears in the Application log in Windows XP with Service Pack 2. It says it's nothing to worry about.

Rereading your post you say "not auto discovering"... PErhaps you could explain exactly you're trying to achieve?

I have exactly the same problem.

According to the event log the computer tries to start the below process for 3 or 4 minutes, gives up, then continues with starting other processes.

Makes startup really slow. Anyone got an answer yet?

Nope.

I thought someone in this forum might be able to help but it doesn't look like it.
Anyone got any suggestions of other good related forums I might find someone who can solve this?
