I'm having trouble getting IOT devices to connect to wifi. I'd previously put it down to "one of those things" the first time it happened (Broadlink remote control) but have since had trouble with some bulbs and most recently a wemos ESP8266 board. On the wemos, I can at least see what is happening. The board can scan for wifi fine and shows that it sees my network. But I can't connect no matter how long I wait.
I'm now wondering if there is some setting in my wifi that disagrees with (cheap) wifi chips on these IOT devices. Originally I had one network with band steering but did set up a dedicated 2.4 GHz network to see if that was the problem - didn't help. My wifi is via Cambium E400 WAPs, so I've certainly got plenty of settings to choose from!
@michaelmurfy - I know, I know. Another reason to upgrade to Ubiquitis!
