Hi all,

I have a Motorolla SB5101U which is connected to my Vodafone TV decoder. I'm wondering if its possible to configure it to share the internet connection it must be sharing with my decoder. I've tried connecting up a switch to it and a wifi router also but couldn't connect to the internet.

Why would you want to do this you may ask?

I have this decoder out in my man cave (away from the fibre connected to the house) and looking to get some sort internet access out in the shed. I thought I would try before looking to buy a better wifi router which will reach outside.

thanks!

I'm sure someone who can explain in greater detail will be along shortly, like @ZollyMonsta,  but I believe this has been asked/answered before and the answer is you can't use it for anything other than the TV access.

Better options than buying a bigger wifi router, would be running a cat5/6 cable out, or trying a Homeplug kit.

The internet is walled off on the supplied set top box modem. You could plug the set top box into your normal internet modem of you wish, but be aware that after doing this you won’t be able to purchase pay per view movies or sporting events.

Your internet is through Vodafone also?

Cheers
