Hi,
Use the guide provided. Extremely useful and got to the end as indicated by the screenshot. Unfortunately I get timeout when doing the ping test. Everything is in place but I cannot get traffic through.

Just this may help;

Local IP address: 10.40.8.28
Gatewayaddress: 10.40.127.254

DBS address: 172.29.1.1

When I ping the site the correct IP address returns. But the result just timeout.

I did try Netfront but it just does not show the webpage either.

HELP!!!

If you can ping and get the address resolved, it seems that something else is blocking communications... Do you have a personal firewall software on this computer? Is this a Windows XP Service Pack 2? If yes, have you correctly configured the new built-in firewall?

No. The address resolve itself BUT not able to ping. So the DNS is working but no ping. It is running on Clie Palm OS5 and no firewall on it.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant: resolve address works, but something else is blocking the PING itself. It means that DNS resolution packets flow ok, but ICMP PING request or reply are being blocked.

A firewall on the Windows machine serving as the connection would block this type of communication if not correctly configured - the firewall doesn't need to be on the Sony Clie.

In that case, it must be the GPRS provider machine. I will get onto them.

Ooops. Sorry, my fault then. Didn't read GPRS! Please check that you're using an APN that allows access to Internet sites, not only WAP. For example, in New Zealand you can use www.vodafone.net.nz or internet. The first will give you a NAT address and full access to Internet. The second is a non-NAT address, suitable for VPN connections.

Got it working. You are right the APN downloaded by Vodafone is for WAP service only. I change it to internet version and managed to surf the net with no problems.

A good link for GPRS setting for UK service provider.

Thanks again
