I have a Vista PC networked via a router with a XP PC. If logged into both as Administrator I can successfully access shared folders. If someone else logs into the XP PC as a different user then network access is denied, although Internet works fine.

I guess this is how it’s supposed to work, but how do I give access to the XP user to Vista folders?

This must be simple but it’s got me beat at the moment. Any help appreciated.

Hi, I dont use Vista still on XP, but from what I understand Vista does not have "simple sharing", or at least does not have it on by default, simple sharing let anyone access a shared folder without user authentication. It may still exist with Vista, but you may need to hunt around to see how to activate it.

Otherwise simply create on the Vista machine the same users who are on the XP one, and give them access to the shared folder. All is explained here.
