Ok I apologise in advance for the long post

I have purchased a new bluetooth dongle since the problems with my last on (see winsock errors post)

I have a safecom 100m dongle and I'm trying to connect it to active sync on my win XP machine.

First of all let me explain that I have had my smartphone connected through active sync workig perfectly with everything working it then stops working and it takes me days of removing unpairing reinstalling reading forums and screaming at my phone before it works again.

This is the 3rd time it has stopped working and I'm about to crack. I have figured out that as soon as I choose to plug in the USB connection and connect to active sync that way then bluetooth active sync stops working and i'm back to square one.

I have tried it with the XP SP2 Drivers and Widcomm 1.4 which I got with the dongle (got the instructions o switching drivers from another post.

As it stands the problem I have is windows or widcomm assign the serial port to high ports from COM14 and upwards as activesync doesn't work on anything higher than 9 it doesn't recognise them in the connection settings and only offers 1, 2 or 5. I have followed another post on here by david hettel which instructs me to show hidden devices in the device manager and one by one delete them until I get to COM3 .

The only problem is they're not there to delete there are only the 3 bluetooth protocol controls which I have deleted 3 times and rebooted only to face the same problem. I have even been in reg edit and gone to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM

I have tried manually editing the values from there with no luck. I have tried removing and reinstalling activesync

So at the moment Activesync is only displaying ports 1 2 and 5 available and I still can't sync I can pair the phone discover services and connect them everything is fine apart from syncing

If it had never worked by now I would have given up a long time ago, I know it will work! please please someone help!

Yeah, sounds pretty much like what I'm facing too.... did you end up sorting it out? I'd appreciate knowing how if so.

I can bond the smartphone with the PC so BlueTooth is happy both ways, but ActiveSync won't connect. Damned if I know why. I'm tearing out what little hair I have with this. XP Home SP2.

Thanks,

Rhys:)

Yes to all of the above. My motorola dongle was working until I plugged it in to another usb port. 3 days later I am very close, by editing the com port settings in device manager, properties/advanced, and changing the ports to 8 and 9, it will try and connect in activsync, but comes up with a message it is not plugged in properly or it is not a pocket pc..
