Hi All,

I am trying to set up a PIA VPN on my Spark HG659b Router as my son has an xbox that I want to put through it and I can't install an app on the xbox one. I have tried putting in the L2TP settings in the VPN page of the router configuration but it seems to stay disconnected.

Can anyone help?

Is it possible to setup DD-WRT or Tomato on the HG659b?

Has anyone been able to setup any VPN on this router?

Is only alternative if I want to run through router, a 3rd party router?

I appreciate any help.

There are currently no 3rd party firmwares for the HG659. I've been looking into this for a while.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

You will need another router to get a VPN running PIA.

I have flashed my fav router Linksys 4200 with both Tomato and DD WRT.

Still use the Spark router as the entry to the house then have the Linksys with an Aussie connection via IP vanish. Works great. PM me if you need the finer details.

VPN's on this device has been discussed here several times, the conclusion almost always being it is just not possible.

Have you considered sharing in internet connection from a Windows machine?
