We are using one NSM2 located outside of the main building (A),as our wireless multiple  access point to other building (B) where is opposite to, about 15 meters away.

 

The size of B is about 30MX10M. The walls of B is made of bricks ,I guess is one layer.

 

There are about 20 users  in the building B, but some at the two ends of B, are complaining about the signals. 

 

Now we got the Giga fiber installed, and planning to upgrade NSM2 to something  better.

 

 

 

Should we upgrade to NanoStation 5 airMax AC?  it shows that can give the 450+ Mbps throughput, and 15km+ coverage.

 

Dose one NS5AC solve the the weaker signal at the two ends of B and give the significance speed improvement?  

 

How about add the second NS5AC?

 

any suggestion would be helpful. thanks.

Hi, by using the AP at A to cover inside B is going to limit coverage there. Would it not make more sense to place one or more cabled APs inside B, and either cable A to B or get a ptp bridge between A & B. For a bridge you could use a pair of newer nano-ac station, but even better at those distances would be a 802.ad bridge, Mikrotik make one that will provide gigabit throughput and near zero latency, thereby creating a near "cable" replacement.  I am deploying a couple of these 60GHz links at work shortly so will report on performance, but overseas reviews have been very good.

Hi, so using a A to B bridge as suggested then placing a mesh wireless solution within B which can be upgraded with cabled backbone when landlord allows.

Are you trying to use the outdoor radio as an AP so end users can connect to it, or as a PtP link?

 

If it's for end users none of the UBNT Airmax AC gear will really work as it's not intended for that purpose.

 

Assuming cost is a factor my recommendation to cover that area would be 1-2 x UniFI AC Mesh radios with UMA-D antennas

I would get 2 of the unifi APs, one mesh one outside the first building, and the other normal one in the second building. That will get you working coverage thru the whole building. Then when youre allowed to get cables between them the one in the building can be plugged in to remove the use of wireless backhaul.

we have something perfectly covered for main building. the second one need some sort of improvement.

UMA-D is a 90 degree antenna for 2.4 GHz.

AC Mesh Pro is omni vs AC Mesh with UMA-D which is 90 degree 2.4GHz coverage and 45 degree 5.GHz coverage. Whether it "works better" depends on the environment - and in your environment the sector antenna will deliver better gain within that coverage footprint vs an omni

for my understanding, Pro and UMA-D will be much better than the NS M2 now. :)

 

for the cost efficiently, those two kind of deploying are almost the same price. maybe i got wrong price quote.
