I have a Spark HG659b modem for my fibre and for some time I have had issues with my Sky connecting correctly to it. Sky will connect and the after about a minute it will show a "Wide Area Network" failed. The "Local Area Network still show OK.

I contacted Spark today who run a test and advised that they could not connect to it so I ended up getting a brand new HG659b and that modem is doing the same thing. When trying to use "On Demand" on Sky I get a Internet not connected.

Can anyone advise what I need to do to fix this.

Regards

Gordon

How do you connect it?

sounds to me like you are both using wireless and Ethernet into the Sky Machine?

i can confirm this does work.

Grandparents have a skymachine with wifi addon, Connected straight to their hg659b.

I am currently trying to connect using the wifi adapter that Spark sent out. It is showing that it is connected but every time that I try to use on demand it comes up with "no internet connection, your Sky box is not connected to the Internet" and if I go back into the Sky network settings the WAN shows failed, this WAN failed was on my old modem and is also on my new modem.

I have tried direct ethernet cable connect and have the same "no internet connection" error.

I have seen others who use the wifi adapter and their on demand works great, the only thing that I can see is this WAN failed error

If I were you I would use a cable and put a static IP on mySky interface, i.e., don't rely on DHCP. If it still can't communicate then call Sky.

Alternate wireless solution is a NanoStation Loco M2 programmed as a station. These work with the Huawei at least and eliminate Sky's hardware. Static address on NS and mySky.
