I have configured port forwarding on the Vodafone Technicolor router to use Remote Desktop but on occasions the IP address of the computer changes, I have tried entering LAN, Subnet, Gateway and DNS into the computers TCP/IPv4 adapter but keep getting a yellow explanation mark on the network icon.

IP: 192.168.0.50

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Preferred DNS: 203.97.78.43

Alternative DNS: 203.97.78.44

Thanks for any help to rectify this

Just a word of caution - unless if you seriously know what you're doing you should never port forward to remote desktop services. It is incredibly dangerous.

Instead - use a tool like Anydesk (https://anydesk.com) to achieve this or set up a VPN server.

By default, Vodafone hands out dynamic IPs. You either need to pay vodafone for a static IP ($5 per month) or use a dynamic DNS service like Duck DNS.

the IP address of the computer changes

Confirm - LAN IP address or Internet IP address ?

If LAN, then no, it shouldnt change long as you have set it to a fixed IP in the LAN TCP/IP protocol settings. If it still gives a exclamation mark, check that the router isn't assigning it another static LAN IP causing an issue. (I dont know the router, so dont ask where to check :) ).

if Internet IP, and youre not paying for a static IP, then it can change at your ISP's will (to a degree) or when the connection drops.

Is the range you are entering for your static IP correct? I've only played with one of those routers once but was pretty sure it wasn't on the 192.168.0.0/24 subnet by default - so unless you've changed this then it can't possibly work.
