Hi All,

I need help on finding a way to connect to my home network from outside (internet) using VPN?

Scenario:

Fibre Connection - > ONT -> WAN Firewall SonicWall - > Home LAN

I did turn on the feature of SSL vpn on my SonicWall but when i try to browse through public address from outside internet connection, there is no response page cannot be displayed, anyone knows how to make this work.

There are 3 methods:

- SSL VPN as you've mentioned, it will give you a portal option and you can use NetExtender/Mobileconnect to tunnel

- IPSEC VPN using the GlobalVPN client

- L2TP VPN (supports many native clients like iOS/Android/and Windows L2TP clients)

I would suggest you spend some time in their Knowledge Base, there are many how to guides.

You need to configure your VPN client so that the VPN server is the gateway and DNS server.

Not necessarily, the SSL option can operate as a web based portal (HTML5 shortcuts to stuff like RDP sessions) so only requires a browser.

What specificly do you need to access on your network? If it's RDP to a PC you could look at something like Teamviewer or RD Gateway

The Sonicwall firewall SSL portal has RDP HTML5 shortcuts that work very well (like an RD Gateway), so all he needs to do is set it up and the instructions are fairly simple.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

SSL VPN is WebBased correct, however the web is not reachable - page cannot be displayed, i used my public ip:portnumber page cannot be displayed, is it because we have a more complicated structure of nating, ONT - > to SW is one ip, SW to LAN is another IP range?

I want to be able to reach my LAN from outside, there are stuff that you can't RDP apart from WEB access.

Configuration of SSL VPN is all good, followed their video, but the public ip isn't responsive from 4g hot spotting.
