I recently brought a unifi USG, cloud key, poe switch, AP and have Vodafone's fibreX internet at home. I'm struggling getting it connected to the internet..
I plugging the USG in and didn't have access to the internet so assumed that needed to set VLAN 10

I searched around and followed these steps after ssh to the USG

configure
edit interfaces ethernet eth0
delete address
delete firewall
set vif 10 address dhcp
set vif 10 firewall in name WAN_IN
set vif 10 firewall local name WAN_LOCAL
commit
save
exit

It then picked up an IP address which is progress but I still wasn't connected to the internet. I couldn't ping anything for example. Rebooted modem, USG, checked all the patch leads etc..
I'm a bit stumped here.. I can only assume I don't have the correct settings on the USG.

Any ideas anyone?

So the idea of the USG is you don't run these sorts of commands on it. It isn't an Edgerouter.

Look at the guide here: https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/219051528-UniFi-Setting-Up-UniFi-for-Beginners - you need to use the Cloud Key to configure it.

1) Update the Cloud Key to the latest firmware version.
2) Enter into the UniFi interface on the Cloud Key.
3) Adopt your devices and start configuring it from there.

Ahh.. I think I was probably overthinking it. I will redo it and report back.

Thanks!

Factory reset everything, went through the cloud connect wizard ignoring the fact I couldn't see the internet through the USG and went through the process setting VLAN 10 in a new network, assigned those ports to that network and no change. The USG still can't see the internet.

When you log into it, it can't even pull down a basic config like IP address. I have had a good hunt through the settings and can see anything sticking out that I have missed.

It seems to me like USG is stopping traffic somehow. Now that I think about it, maybe the modem using 192.168.1.1 and it's clashing. My previous router I started the range at 192.168.1.2 but I can't recall why I did that..

The USG connects straight to the cable modem. VLAN 10, DHCP.

Yeah that's how it's all been plugged in. Unsure what the clash is yet.

I sorted the connection issue and I definitely was overthinking the problem. For anyone hitting the same issue in the future this is what helped me.

I upgraded the firmware on all devices and then found the VLAN tag option by editing the wan network. I'm positive it wasn't there in the earlier version. I was also confused by the controllers purpose. I wasted a lot of time logging into the USG and trying to set VLAN tagging there only to have the cloud key/controller overwrite it. I had wrongly assumed that I needed to manage each device independently. Once I just used the controller and provisioned config from there it all just worked.

I have to say I'm loving the kit, it's pretty amazing what it can do
