Morning,

https://www.lifewire.com/connect-routers-on-a-home-network-818060

Is the HG659 Vodafone modem capable of doing this?

Cheers.

Yes. Disable DHCP, change IP, Disable DNS etc plugin to LAN port and it will act as a dumb wireless bridge.

This is a good first step, I'd look at advancing from there to a proper AP like a unifi as your network/usage grows

Static IP, & LAN Port - to LAN Port of the secondary modem right?

Because I was told to run a cable from the main modem, use any of the LAN Ports, & connect that cord to the WAN Port of the secondary modem.

Cheers.

If you do the later then change LAN to another subnet as it won't route with same network on WAN and LAN. The other problem is that the WAN interface most likely by default has VID=10 configured.

Good news,

My HG659 Is now a switch effectively. & I also been sent some Vodafone wifi extenders for free.

So theoretically speaking, if I can use the ethernet port on my extender to run to my other desktop PC, I ca run a cable to my switch now, can't I?

This is what I want to do to help a friend out. They need to use the SIP service of the HG659

The only place Fibre can be installed in their house is in the garage.

They will be using NetGear Orbi as the wireless network And we want to plug the HG659 into the back of one of the Satellite Orbi's

Have the WIFI and DCHP disabled. then the phone into one of the Phone ports.
