Hi
Can someone identify the different Ethernet ports around home. The patch panel doesn't have any labels. At the moment, the ONT is connected to one of the ports. I have 5 outlets around the home however they are not using a switch and only one of them is working rest i try moving my modem to other ports but it’s not working at all. Any idea 💡 how can all the ethernet ports works.

Chorus fibre box is set up
In the garage downstairs from there I think only 1 port connection or don’t know but i try to use my room ethernet point for my tv or box but I can’t . Plzzz if someone can help me regarding this.
Thanks a lot

Hi, based on similar questons folk have asked in the past a few photos showing the patch panel and a couple of the outlets (ideally from the rear so we can see the wiring)

put your router in the box in the garage, connect the house wiring to the router's lan ports, then use the Ethernet ports in the rooms in the house for your devices. that should work.

doesnt help you with wifi but you can buy and access point to solve that.

The Patch panel just brings all the wiring together, by itself it does no switching,  you currently have just connected the ONT directly through to the active outlet in the house,

You need a modem/router (plus possibly cables)  in the Patch panel to connect the ONT connection to the rest of the patch panel outlets

As mentioned before, put your router next to the chorus ONT near the patch panel and plug a cable from the routers LAN ports into the patch panel to connect devices on the other end.

If the patch panel to room port doesn’t work its likely whoever installed it did a shoddy job. A mate was living in his place for 10 years without using his wiring because it didn’t work, turns out the sparky who did it just punched random ends into the ports in the rooms. I had to redo all the cables and both ends, the room AND the patch panel.
