My Brother has just moved to Hamilton, I am heading down from Auckland on Sunday to help him set up the Fibre and Network in the house. But it looks like the previous Tenants took the ONT power Supply.

There is only a Huawei lable on the ONT anyone know what power adapter these have so I can try to get him going? (and not two trips from Auckland)

PB Tech in Hamilton has a stockpile of them, I think, or if you can get in touch with someone at the office in Te Rapa (not sure if they're open), they have spares there too. And the local IT companies (if they're sane) should have spares, I know I personally have a couple of spare ONT PSUs just in case.

Thanks for your help guys. Drove down to Hamilton (From Auckland) yesterday and got my brother all set up.

Justy took my adapter from my spare router which I have no need for.

I thought the ONT (including the power supply) belonged to Chorus?

If that is the case they should be providing you with a new power supply and chasing the previous occupier for the cost shouldn’t they?

The reason I ask is if you use a power supply that wasn’t provided with the ONT and you damage it, who is liable?

THis is part of the UltraFastFibre Network not Chorus.

THey are sending a new powersupply out. I checked with this group and it was the same as the PS I had sitting spare.

We have had two lots of friends who have had to find these.

It seems to be a very common thing for people to take them from a property when moving.

In both cases it wasn't determined if it was by accident or on purpose....

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

We've been going to a few open homes recently, we've seen about 8 empty houses.

Only one of them had a power supply for the ONT, and they were all Chorus ones, with the non standard plug, so no good for anything else.

in this case UFF, But yep belongs to the Network provider and shouldnt be removed.

It's alot cheaper to just supply a new one rather than chase the previous tenants unfortunately.

The gen 3 onts actually use a standard DC jack.

However, @chorusnz did what i still am quite impressed with.

the power cable is labeled, along with the ont clearly saying do not remove. chorus property.

Here is hoping it's making a change, i'd say it's too soon for analytics to be ran on it. (and possibly even something chorus wouldn't publically share)

It's the worst customer experience to move in and go... sh!t. my internet wont work, because the previous person took the PSU - In all your chats with the provider you may not know this until last min!
